Taube's work continues in Alyn Hospital.

"This 'Safe Transportation of Children with Special Needs
Project', funded by the Mischon Family, was initiated
and developed in ALYN Hospital by one of ALYN’s veteran
occupational therapists Taube Korn z”l. She taught many
occupational therapists around the country and instructed
many parents and carers of special needs children in the
important elements of safe seating thereby enabling
thousands of special needs children nationwide to benefit
from her expertise and knowledge."

Shirum and Mishnayot in Taube's memory

Shiurim in Har Nof

first shiur -- speaker Mindy Brown Gross
בכל יום ויום מחויב יהודי לעשות מעשה חסד
" A Jew every single day has to find a way to do an act of love and kindness even if it's just a small act of love and kindness, and by the way Taube was a very elegant example of this in her life. Chesed could be in your home, with your husband, your children, your friends, it doesn’t have to be- and she will be smiling right now saying I always say radical things-you don't have to be the head of the chesed committee in Har Nof."

Eliminating barriers to the disabled.

Abstract

Project Open House provides for the removal of architectural barriers in the homes of disabled low and moderate income New York City dwellers. This program was developed as a cooperative effort between United Cerebral Palsy of New York City, Inc., the New York City Mayor's Office for the Handicapped, and the Department of Housing Preservation and Development. Project Open House operates as follows. An occupational therapist evaluates both structure dwelling and client needs; this information is used as a basis for the prescription of structural modifications and equipment that will allow increased physical accessibility. On completion of the prescribed work, the therapist trains the individual and family in the use of the modifications. Project Open House and Family Support Services are community programs that provide a cost-effective method for improving the quality of life for disabled individuals and their families.

U.S.-born Taube Korn, an occupational therapist and CPST instructor, founded Israel’s first child passenger safety program at the Alyn Pediatric and Adolescent Rehabilitation Center in 1993. Alyn Hospital, located in Jerusalem, is Israel’s only comprehensive rehabilitation center for physically handicapped children and adolescents.
Focused on the CR requirements of children with special needs, the Ma’ayan Child Enabling Center at Alyn includes a display where parents and caregivers can learn about choosing and using the equipment that best suits a a disabled child’s condition, and try out car seats and special restraints. A Special Needs Car Seat Loan Program offers car seats and harness systems for a trial period before purchasing, or for use for a temporary disability, such as a post-operative condition. In addition, the center, which certified Israel’s first CPS Technicians, offers courses for parents and professionals in correct installation and use of CRs, and in-service training, including the NHTSA 4-day course.

She made a difference

Taube Korn made a difference. She raised a beautiful family, saved lives, hosted her husband's students and family, revised curricula, set car seat standards, frosted cakes, assisted children with special needs, painted, served as a role model to many, hosted shiurim, and so much more.

She was intelligent, persistent, organized, quiet, dignified, artistic, caring, and effective.

Taube, we miss you.
